THE WRECK OF THE YONGALA
Location            East of Townsville, off the coast of Cape Bowling Green
Max Depth Dive
  0-30 meters

Features:  The wreck is marked at both ends with a dive buoy rope.  It is illegal to enter the wreck due to stability of the vessel.  The wreck is 100 meters long and it is definitely worth traveling the entire length.  The fish life is amazing.  Turtles, sharks, sea snakes, groupers, dolphins, eagle rays, manta rays and trevallies, and the large school of batfish. This is one of the best dives in the Townsville region

DART REEF
Location            Still within the Flinders Reef area but considered it's own reef location, No fixed mooring
Max Depth Dive 0-60 meters (but 0-30) is also good

Features:  The enormity of the wall at Dart Reef will stay with you.  The bommie rises approx 900 meters from the seabed, and is 6 km in diameter.  It isn't practical to plan a dive in a circular route.  So be sure to stick to your dive plan.   Gorgonians and a colorful display for both hard and soft corals.

MYRMIDON REEF
Location            Just north of Townsville, one of the closer reefs to the coast
Max Depth Dive 0-30 meters

Features:  This dive can only be done if the south west winds are not too strong.  Giant Clams and beautiful hard corals.  This dive is very pleasant dive and a feature is the Deer Horn Acropora.

KELSO REEF
Location            Kelso Reef - 2 hrs from Townsville - Daytrip
Max Dive Depth 20 meters
Features:  Approx 10 different dive options.  Floating fixed platform.  Dive Snorkel and Glass Bottom Boat. Great Barrier Reef fish, giant clams, small white tip reef sharks.  Great if you want to incorporate a single dive into your holiday.

KELSO REEF - The Olga's
Location                Kelso Reef - 2 hours from Townsville - Daytrip
Max Dive Depth  10-15 meters
Features:  Bushes of sarcophton (mushroom leather) and different types of Acropora (stag horn and plate) coral, at 5-6 meters. Sergeant major, barracuda and white tip reef sharks are all common visitors to this site.  A wide angle lens is the best wya to capture the corals in reasonably shallow water.

KELSO REEF - The Buoys
Location            Kelso Reef - 2 hours from Townsville - Daytrip
Max Dive Depth 18 meters
Features:  Flat or branching Acropora (Stag horn and Plate) Coral.   Reef fish, turtles and white tip reef sharks.   5-8 meters is the best dive depth and there are both wide angle and macro opportunities at this site.
