Moray Eels
There are approximately 200 species of Moray Eels, typical length is 1.5 meters. With the slender Giant Moray growing up to 4MT in length.
Morays have a 2nd set of jaws in their throat, their 1st set of jaws don't have enough negative pressure to swallow prey, so the second set of jaws moves up and into the mouth, grasping and pulling the prey down their throat.
Their main predators are groupers, other morays and barracudas.
White Mouth Moray is Brown with small white spots
Fimbriated Moray has a yellow body with dark flecks
Ribbon Moray has a blue body with bright yellow head and lives in the sandy sea bed.
Snowflake Moray is whitish with black spots speckled with yellow, feeds on crustaceans, is often attracted to light, so keep an eye out on those night dives. Grows to approximately 75cm
Marbled Moray, upper head is yellow, marbled stripes on its body of white and brown. Feeds on octopus at night. Grows to 1.5 meters in length
Honeycomb Moray is characterized by the honeycomb like pattern, black spots separated by white stripes. Feeds on fish can grow and exceed 1.8 meters
